Computer Timelines on the 'Net

Reading Computer: A History of the Information Machine by Martin Campbell-Kelly and William Aspray can be a challenge at times. Many times throughout the book, the authors trace a certain development within the field of computing throughout a certain time period, but this means they must continually return to other areas to pick up where they left off and bring them up to speed as well. There is so much information involved in the development of the computer that the information cannot be presented in a single linear fashion, but rather it must be described in a series of steps. Therefore, I've searched the Internet for a couple of timelines that might present the data more graphically and all at once, rather than in the step-by-step, fragmented process found in the book. So far, a good one I've found that also includes some descriptions of topics mentioned in the book can be found at this site: http://inventors.about.com/library/blcoindex.htm.

So check it out, if you know of any other good ones, leave it as a comment to this blog. Thanks!
